Requirements

  • One of:

    • ctrlX OS: a ctrlX CORE with the ctrlX Data Layer

    • a PC with Windows 11 or Ubuntu 24.04 and LumiScan Keryx

  • Ethernet-enabled, GenICam-compliant camera

  • Camera power supply, either via PoE or an external power supply

The application has been tested with selected cameras from Basler, Baumer, IDS, LUCID Vision Labs, Hikvision, and Balluff.
GenICam implementations can vary between manufacturers and camera models. Therefore, some functions might be unavailable or behave differently with untested cameras. Verify all required functions before deployment.

For the Data Layer on each platform, see ctrlX Data Layer and LumiScan Keryx.

Licence

How LumiScan Cam Driver is licensed depends on where you bought it and where it runs:

Bought from Runs on Licensing

HD Vision Systems

Windows 11 or Ubuntu 24.04

The licence is held on your LumiScan Key. It is a one-time purchase and needs no renewal.

ctrlX Store

Windows 11

The licence is held in ctrlX WORKS. The LumiScan Key is required in addition; it protects the software against reverse engineering.

ctrlX Store

ctrlX OS (ctrlX CORE or IPC)

ctrlX licence SWL-W-XCx-CAMDRIVERxHDVSx-V2NN, one licence per connected camera.

Each device on which LumiScan Cam Driver runs at the same time needs its own LumiScan Key. Keys can be exchanged between devices.

How to install CodeMeter Runtime and how to request, renew and move licences is described in LumiScan Licensing.

On ctrlX OS, the application shuts down shortly after starting if the licence is missing; the reason is written to the system log.

Up to and including v2.1.0, all licences must be installed together and appear as one Cam Driver V2 entry covering all cameras. Separate entries cause a licence error. From v2.2.0 onward, separately installed licences are also supported. See Release Notes: v2.2.0.
