# Uploading Data – LumiScan Cam Driver

How the settings files reach the Cam Driver depends on the platform. They can also be changed on the Data Layer on both, see [Settings on the Data Layer](https://docs.hdvisionsystems.com/en/lumiscan-cam-driver/2.2.1/lumiscan-camdriver/settings-on-the-data-layer.html).

## On ctrlX OS {#on-ctrlx-os}

> [!NOTE]
> Most data can be uploaded directly through the ctrlX Web UI. Use WebDAV only when direct upload is not available or when you need to access the application folder structure.

Configuration upload is optional and can be used to upload custom application settings.

1. Go to the WinSCP website.

2. Download and install the latest version of WinSCP.

3. Start WinSCP.

4. On the login page, select **WebDAV** as the **File protocol**.

5. Select **TLS/SSL** for **Encryption**.

6. Enter your **user name** and **password**.

7. Navigate to **/solutions/webdav/appdata**.

8. The application folder structure is displayed in the right panel.

You can drag and drop data and settings into the corresponding application folder.

## On a PC {#on-a-pc}

On a PC the settings files are ordinary files. Copy them into the folder the Cam Driver reads its settings from. The Cam Driver names this folder when it writes an example of its settings, see [Starting from an Example](https://docs.hdvisionsystems.com/en/lumiscan-cam-driver/2.2.1/lumiscan-camdriver/creating-new-camera-settings-files.html#starting-from-an-example). On Windows it is:

- `%APP_RESOURCE_DIR%\etc\lumiscan-cam-driver`, when the environment variable `APP_RESOURCE_DIR` is set;
- otherwise `C:\ProgramData\HD Vision Systems GmbH\LumiScan Vision Suite\lumiscan-cam-driver\etc\lumiscan-cam-driver`.

Restart the Cam Driver after changing a file. For an example configuration, see [Application Settings Content Example](https://docs.hdvisionsystems.com/en/lumiscan-cam-driver/2.2.1/lumiscan-camdriver/application-settings-content-example.html).
