# Installation – LumiScan VGR

## Installing CodeMeter Runtime {#installing-codemeter-runtime}

LumiScan VGR is licensed with the LumiScan Key and needs CodeMeter Runtime 9.00 or later. Install CodeMeter Runtime and connect the LumiScan Key as described in [Installing CodeMeter Runtime](https://docs.hdvisionsystems.com/en/lumiscan-licensing/1.0.4/installing-codemeter.html).

## Installing LumiScan VGR {#installing-lumiscan-vgr}

Before installing LumiScan VGR, install and configure the LumiScanX camera according to the LumiScanX manual.

To install LumiScan VGR:

1. Close all open applications.
2. Navigate to the location of the LumiScan VGR installer.
3. Double-click `Installer_LumiScan_VGR_va_b_c_d.exe`\*.
4. Wait until the licence agreement window opens.
5. Accept the licence terms by clicking **Accept**.
6. To change the default installation location, click **Browse**, select the desired location, and click **OK**.
7. Click **Next** to continue.
8. If desired, select a **Start Menu** folder for the program links.
9. To avoid creating shortcuts, select **Do not create links**.
10. Click **Install**.
11. When the installation is complete, click **OK**.
12. Click **Finish**.

**where \*a**, **b**, **c**, and **d** depend on the software version.

> The Start Menu selection can be omitted depending on the installation package.
